About

Payments should not depend on one provider having a good day

OrcoPay is the layer that lets merchants treat gateways as interchangeable infrastructure rather than a dependency they are locked into.

Our mission

Merchants add a second payment gateway to improve approval rates. Then a third for a new market, and a fourth because one provider handles a method better. Each one arrives with its own API, its own webhook vocabulary, its own settlement file and its own definition of what a refund is.

What starts as redundancy becomes overhead. Engineering maintains four integrations. Finance reconciles four report formats. Support cannot answer why a specific payment failed without logging into four dashboards.

OrcoPay exists to collapse that back into one integration, one ledger and one place to look when something breaks - without giving up the redundancy that made multiple providers worth having.

Principles

What we optimise for

These are the trade-offs we make when a decision is genuinely close.

Merchants keep control

We never decide where your money goes without telling you why. Every routing decision is inspectable, and every rule is yours to change.

Boring where it counts

Payments infrastructure should be predictable. We ship conservatively, version everything, and treat a breaking change as a failure.

Built with operators

Most of what we build comes from watching support and finance teams work around tooling that was designed only for engineers.

Local rails, global shape

Payments are regional. We integrate the providers that actually matter in each market rather than forcing one global processor.

Story

How we got here

  1. 2023

    Started with one problem

A merchant asked why a 4% drop in approvals took three weeks to trace across four gateways. There was no good answer, so we built one.

  2. 2024

    First production cascade

Smart routing and automatic failover went live with a handful of design partners moving real volume across multiple providers.

  3. 2025

    Reconciliation and operations

The platform grew past routing into the ledger, risk controls and the operations console teams now run their day from.

  4. Today

One layer for the whole lifecycle

Merchants integrate once and manage routing, retries, settlement and disputes from a single control center.
